Comments:
The Shakespeare 960 was launched in 1991 and had a single medium vee aft swept
step, a little aft of amidships. The aft end of the hull was conventional deep
vee. She was one of the first of the modern era of stepped hulls and was an attempt
to use steps to control trim in a seaway. Performance in the calm was good – about
the same as a good conventional deep vee – but the rough water handling
and ride was much better than the norm with great response to the helm.
